Awesome new £6 computer from Cali start-up Next Thing gains ground

Forget Rasberry Pi, because a new Californian start-up is currently harvesting funds for a minuscule computer that’s set to cost a mere $9 (£6)

Cali-based Next Thing wants $50k to finish the development of this tiny computing marvel, which doesn’t seem like a great deal of cash for something that could potentially bring computing and net access to the developing world.

Next Thing’s computer is called “The Chip” and is the size of a debit-card and is set to have a 1GB processor, 512MB of Ram and a 4GB hard drive for storage.

The Chip is built around an Arm, err, chip and includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0

Providing the firm can raise the dough, the plan is to release the £6 computer to market in early 2016.
